From a Public Health point of view, health economics is just one of many disciplines that may be used to analyse issues of health and health care, specifically as one of the set of analytical methods labelled Health Services Research. Health economics has two international journals exclusively devoted to its subject matter (Journal of Health Economics and Health Economics), which are amongst the most frequently cited of all economics journals, and there are many others, especially multi-disciplinary journals, in which health economics features prominently. “Health economics” as a course is meant to give medical, health officer and other paramedical students basic principles regarding economics and its application to the health sector. Therefore, this material should be regarded as an introduction to health economics rather than to economics.

The Master's Programme in Health Economics, Policy and Management provides a global perspective to the medical management field and has a multidisciplinary approach.
